You can make your own Swirling Vortex glowing in midair with a simple Holiday Light Projector ($30-$50),
a Fog Machine (FogFX) and Black construction Paper. (A timer remote will also be helpful)
You can use the blue film for a ghostly effect, green for an x files look or red for a demonic look.
Glue or tape with double sided tape a round piece of black construction paper that is about 1/4" smaller than the film image.
You should have 1/8" inch of the background border color exposed. (Make sure the paper side is nor facing the lightbulb.)
Place the Fog machine up high with the image projector angled just above it so the light shines down through the fog.
Voila! Swirling Ethereal Vortex in midair! Spooky!

Tip: Place a Strobe Light on your roof pointed up to make the trees look like they are moving.

Dry Ice is a fun and easy way to make fog at .75 per pound, but it takes alot of dry ice to make the same amount of fog
that a fog machine can, and you have to be very careful with it as it can burn skin severely.
You must use tongs or gloves when handling it, and do not put it in the freezer because the extreme cold of the dry ice will cause the thermostat to turn off your freezer. It is best to store it in a standard insulated container with as little dead air space as possible to stop the dry ice from sublimating. When taking out dry ice, fill empty space with wadded up newspaper.
Leave it a little air to breathe because it will cause an airtight container to explode.
Allow plenty of ventilation where it is being used, as it is carbon dioxide and not so good in an enclosed area.
To make Dry Ice Fog, put 1 to 2 pounds of dry ice in one gallon of very hot water.
The smaller the pieces of dry ice and the hotter the water, the more fog it will produce. You can use Dry Ice
under your cauldron of Punch, or inside a carved pumpkin in a bowl of Hot water
with a light stick or battery operated light to make a Smoking Pumpkin.

Fluorescent Paint will light up anywhere you place a black light, so paint anything you want to glow with this type of paint, like leaves for instance. If you need sheets, clothing or rope to glow in the dark or anything else,
soak it in Woolite laundry soap or RIT Whitener Brightener for an hour or so, then wring it out but do not rinse.
(Works best on white.) Black Light Hairspray works on everything as well for glow in the dark effects.
